Senior Paralegal

Sejute Guha possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Law, from Boston University. Since 2014, Sejute has been working as an Immigration Paralegal with various prestigious law firms in New York, NY. During her decade-long tenure in this professional capacity, Sejute has gained extensive knowledge and experience with respect to preparing employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, including, but not limited to: H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, TN-1/TN-2, E-3, EB-1-3/EB-2/EB-3 I-140s, and Adjustment of Status (AOS). She possesses a demonstrated ability serving as a case manager and determining individual case strategies. This includes extensive experience corresponding with clients/foreign nationals to keep them apprised of case updates/strategies, in addition to acting as a liaison between attorneys and clients.

In all of her work, Sejute strives to continuously play a crucial role in helping clients with various immigration issues, in order to ensure that the legal process runs smoothly.

  • What is your greatest fear? 
    • Heights and drowning. 
  • What is the trait you most deplore in others? 
    • Lack of self-sufficiency/independence.
  • What is your current state of mind?
    • Relieved and Excited (and a little nervous).
  • Which words or phrases do you most overuse? 
    • “It is what it is” or “that’s no bueno” or “UGH”
  • What is your idea of perfect happiness?
    • Being able to live a care-free (aka no-stress) life with great people, food/drinks, and places. 
  • What is your greatest extravagance?
    • Broadway Tickets & Restaurants/Bakeries
  • What or who is the greatest love of your life? 
    • Current (and very cliche answer) – me, myself, and I. I’m a 30+ year old work in progress. In the future – hopefully a significant other.
  • Which talent would you most like to have? 
    • Singing, playing either the piano/guitar, and speaking multiple foreign languages.
  • Who are your favorite writers? 
    • As a young adult – I used to LOVE James Patterson and his Women’s Murder Club book series.
  • What are you watching right now? 
    • Masters of the Air, Sugar, The Sympathizer, We Were the Lucky Ones, L&O SVU, Beef, One Day, and many more…
  • What do you consider your greatest achievement?
    • I hope my greatest achievement is yet to come – but, at the moment, I am happy to have finally landed a Senior Paralegal role, after 10+ years in this field. 
  • What is your most treasured possession? 
    • My Broadway Playbill Collection, Music CD Collection, and my IPod Touch (especially because Apple has discontinued them).
  • What do you most value in your friends? 
    • Reliability, honesty, appreciative, and supportive.
  • What was your first impression of Stephen?
    • We first met in passing at a prior firm in NYC many years ago, and I thought he was very nice and easy to talk to. 
  • What was your first impression of Jacki? 
    • I first met Jacki in a team meeting at a prior firm, and I thought she was very serious about work procedures/processes.
  • What is your favorite restaurant in LA?  
    • I have never been to LA, so I unfortunately can’t answer this question. 
  • What is your favorite restaurant in NYC? 
    • Current favorites: Let’s Meat (KBBQ); Huek Hwa Dang (Croffles); Grace Street Café (Asian Desserts); Danji (Korean); Fresco by Scotto (Italian); Taverna Kyclades (Greek); and Shanghai Zhen Gong Fu (Chinese).
  • What is your favorite city to visit?
    • My most recent trip to Punta Cana in the DR, was fabulous! Boston, MA is also a favorite of mine, as well.
  • What excites you about joining Blaker & Granet LLP? 
    • Being able to work in collaborative environment and taking the next step in my career, into more supervisory role. I am excited to take on the challenge!
