Family-Based Green Cards

Immediate Relative Green Card - This green card category is available to spouses of U.S. citizens; unmarried children under 21 years of age of a U.S. citizen; or the parent of a U.S. citizen if the U.S. citizen is 21 years of age or older. At present, these green card applications are not subject to any backlogs or quotas.

 

Other Family-Sponsored Green Cards - The following familial relationships are eligible for green card sponsorship:

• Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens

• Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents

• Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens

• Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens

 

However, many of these green card categories are subject to backlogs and quotas when processing the final step of the green card application.
